Location: Remote (UK-based) | Salary: £30,000 + performance bonus | Reports to: ClubRight UK Marketing Manager
About Clubmate
Clubmate is the UK’s market-leading membership management software for fishing clubs, angling associations, and fisheries. We work with over 350 clubs and fisheries across the UK, helping them manage memberships, process payments, issue permits, and communicate with their members.
We’re a small, dedicated team—and we’re all passionate anglers. That shared love for the sport shapes everything we do, from how we build our product to how we support our customers. It’s why our retention rates are exceptional and why clubs trust us to help them grow.
Clubmate is part of the ClubRight family, a membership management software business serving gyms, fitness clubs, martial art schools, and sports organisations across the UK and Ireland.
The Opportunity
This is a rare opportunity to own the marketing function for an established, market-leading business in the angling industry. You’ll be our first dedicated marketing hire, responsible for increasing brand awareness, expanding our audience, and driving a consistent pipeline of leads.
You’ll work closely with our Clubmate UK General Manager to ensure messaging is accurate, marketing activity is planned effectively, and leads are delivered. You’ll report to the ClubRight UK Marketing Manager, who heads up marketing for our sister company and will provide guidance and support.
This is a hands-on role with real autonomy. You’ll have access to freelancers where needed, and new marketing initiatives are welcomed, as long as they align with our growth goals. Long-term, there’s potential to help Clubmate expand globally as we grow.
It’s ideal for someone with an entrepreneurial mindset who’s on an upward curve in their career and wants to make a tangible impact.
What You’ll Do
Increase brand awareness and drive leads. Expand Clubmate’s audience through SEO, social media, events, partnerships, and other relevant campaigns. You’ll be measured on the leads you generate and the customers we acquire.
Grow and manage partnerships. Work with federations, regional angling bodies, tackle trade contacts, and other key partners to increase awareness of Clubmate and drive inbound leads. Represent us at trade shows, events, and industry meetings.
Refine our messaging and positioning. Sharpen how we communicate our value proposition to the market. Ensure our messaging resonates with fishing clubs and fisheries, and differentiates us from alternatives.
Own and grow our social channels. Build our presence on the platforms where our audience spends time. Create engaging content that builds credibility and drives traffic back to our site.
Manage our website and optimise for conversions. Increase traffic through SEO and other channels. Improve the visitor journey from landing page to demo request or enquiry. Test, measure, and iterate to improve lead generation.
Create compelling content. Coordinate case studies, success stories, blog posts, and guides that demonstrate how Clubmate helps fishing organisations thrive. Get us featured in angling media and industry publications.
Who You Are
You’re a passionate angler. Our whole team shares a genuine love for fishing, and you’ll need that same passion to connect authentically with our audience, build credibility in the industry, and understand what matters to our customers.
You’re commercially minded. You understand that marketing exists to generate business. You’re comfortable being measured on leads and revenue, not just impressions and engagement.
You have an entrepreneurial mindset. You spot opportunities, take initiative, and get things done without waiting to be told. You’re excited by the chance to shape something rather than just execute a playbook.
You can write well. Clear, persuasive copy for emails, web pages, social posts, and articles. No jargon, no fluff, just content that resonates with our audience.
You’re comfortable with WordPress. You can update pages, create content, and make changes without needing a developer. You don’t need to be technical, but you should be able to manage and improve a WordPress site day-to-day.
You’re happy to travel occasionally. Trade shows, federation meetings, and customer visits are part of building relationships in this industry.
Nice to Have
Experience with HubSpot or similar marketing automation and CRM platforms. Previous B2B or SaaS marketing experience. Existing contacts within angling federations or the tackle trade. Experience managing social media for a brand. Familiarity with Google Analytics and SEO tools.
