Lincoln & District Angling Association - Our Story
Lincoln & District Angling Association was established in 1868 and is one of the UK’s longest-running fishing clubs. We aim to be the top Association in Lincolnshire, with the best venues and the best members. LDAA is committed to providing angling opportunities that cater for all, with a current portfolio of 9 venues.
We’re proud to welcome anglers from across Britain, particularly those in or close to Lincolnshire including Newark, Gainsborough, Grantham, Peterborough and Boston.
Our joining process was managed manually by our secretary on their own.
Before we implemented Clubmate, our membership process started with a screenshot of a receipt and the new member’s face and payment details, then we’d manually print a membership card, send an email to the new member thanking them for joining and a list of rules, followed by either dropping a batch of completed membership cards to a designated pick up site or posting them to our new member. Their details were then added to a spreadsheet so that we could keep a log of everyone.
In short, the time spent processing membership cards increased rapidly as member numbers increased, and we wanted to make the club more inclusive. All memberships were processed solely by our Membership Secretary and any checks, enquiries or problems had to go through the secretary alone.
Why we chose Clubmate.
Managing the club this way was slow and frustrating, and having one person manage the whole joining process for all members turned into a bottleneck, slowing down the joining process for anglers.
Fortunately, Clubmate was recommended to the LDAA committee by the then Vice-Chairman, who was a bailiff at another angling club that had been using Clubmate successfully for some time. We organised a demo of the software and were quickly impressed by what the software could do.
We decided as a club to sign up, although we were slightly apprehensive due to our lack of IT knowledge; we were all a bit worried that we weren’t computer-savvy enough to be able to learn, use and understand Clubmate.
Now that we use Clubmate, everything is at our fingertips.
Our favourite thing about Clubmate is that everything is at your fingertips. We’re able to check if someone is a member whilst being on the bank without having to bother the Secretary. That in turn gives our bailiffs more time to chat with our members about important things – like fishing!
Processing memberships can be done instantly and easily. Once joining, anglers can fish straight away, with no waiting for the secretary to send confirmation emails because Clubmate sends them automatically when the sign-up is completed.
Aside from the software, the Clubmate team are friendly, supportive, approachable and professional. They’re always willing and able to show us how Clubmate can improve our Association in ways we didn’t even realise were possible.
I would like to thank the Clubmate team for all their help, patience and support in our transition from being unsure of our capability to work with Clubmate, to now using it every day with full confidence.
Would we recommend Clubmate?
Yes, I will be recommending Clubmate because I have seen in a short amount of time how Clubmate can organise memberships, payments and the availability of membership data to all staff. It’s had such a positive impact on our club.
If you’re thinking about signing up, take the help that is offered by Clubmate – they’ll teach you step-by-step how to use their software and how to best use it at your club.
